Kiettisack International School (KIS) was first established in 1992 and founded by Dr. David Marian and Dr. Chansanga Valakone with only 25 students. The school’s name was Daystar School. After Dr. David Marian passed away, the school’s name was changed to Honour International School (HIS). In 2005, when HIS was granted permission by the Lao Ministry of Education to operate as an international school, the school’s name was changed to its Lao translation Kiettisack International School (KIS), which is the same meaning as “Honour”.

Starting from 2012-13, KIS opened a branch in Luang Prabang province located in Nongkham Village, Luang Prabang District. This branch is under the direction of our Senior Management in Vientiane and operates with the same standards and curriculum as the Main Campus.

The campus is situated right in the middle of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Up until 1975, it served as the country's royal capital. It is renowned for the abundance of Buddhist monasteries, Namkhan and Mekong Rivers and stunning natural scenery.

This academic year (2022-2023), Kiettisack International School in Luang Prabang (KIS-LP) turns ten. By using the license from the Lao Ministry of Education for the International School and the Lao Curriculum, this private school has expanded quickly and now educates students from across the world from Nursery to Senior Secondary, aged 2–18.

The school is also licensed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations to operate as Examination Centre LA008. KIS provides the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A/As level qualifications, and has achieved many outstanding results.

Kiettisack Academy was founded in 2015 for the delivery of Cambridge English Assessment examinations. The Academy was the first institution in Lao PDR to be accredited to run these exams under licence LA008.

The school has enjoyed a consistent and steady growth pattern for the past 10 years. We expect demand to continue to increase in the foreseeable future. While the larger portion of our students are Lao nationals, our foreign student population is expanding.

Over the past 10 years it has been shown that secondary students do not have to come from wealthy families in order to achieve a quality education.
