General Curriculum

Kiettisack International School (KIS) was established in Vientiane in 1992 as the very first Lao International School. Kiettisack International School – Luang Prabang (KIS-LP) was founded in 2012 and offers the same standards and curriculum as our sister school in Vientiane.

Throughout the years, KIS-LP has grown rapidly as a private academic institution that offers a high-quality international education to children aged 2 to 18, from Nursery up through to Secondary. KIS-LP offers a

dual curriculum with the International School classes from 8:15 am to 1:30 pm and the parallel curriculum taught in the Lao language which follows the Lao State Curriculum and is run at the Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary levels in the afternoon.

KIS is accredited by the Lao Ministry of Education and is also authorised by the Cambridge University International Examination (CIE) to offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A/AS level examinations. CIE qualifications are recognised by universities, educational providers, and

employers across the world. KIS is also an approved examination centre for Cambridge Assessment English and offers exams and certification at all levels.

Our Pre-Primary and Primary departments follow the Cambridge curriculum and use Cambridge-approved textbooks. The key learning areas for these departments are English, Mathematics, and Integrated Units (Science and Geography). Students also take the Cambridge Young Learners of English (YLE) tests.

In the Secondary department, all our students continue to follow the Cambridge Secondary Curriculum. Subjects taught include English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies, Global Perspectives and ICT. Currently, these are taught at the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) level. In future years we will offer Cambridge AS/A Levels.

Additionally, all school students take additional classes, which may vary depending on the year of study. These include Art, Physical Education (PE), International and Traditional Lao Music, and also Dance.
